A good prespective...

Is it just me, or has anyone else been totally consumed with the presidential election? I received the text below in an email today. It was written by a friend of a friend of a friend...who is a pastor in Buffalo....his comments have given me a new perspective on our president-elect.
*****************************************************

I can't help but be excited about the fact that there is a black president! And this is a joy that cannot be understood in full by people who are not black! And yet, ANYBODY who has dealt with racism knows what this moment means.

For this reason, I rejoice.

You walk into a barber shop and you used to see Martin Luther the KING everywhere. Growing up, he was OUR person. OUR icon.

Now MLK will have a companion. Unbelievable.

The world has changed today. My parents both called me and, well....they remember when MLK was shot.

AND YET... A part of me, the biggest part of me is not rejoicing.

It is trusting in God. Because I know that Obama stands for things that are against the Word of God. And the Word of God is the standard that will be the law forever.

AND YET...This is God's will!

All people who claim to be Christians, please read Romans 13:1-7. Did you know Paul wrote this during the time of Emperor NERO?

Please read 2 Kings 8:7-13. Here we see God endorsing the rule of a man who is most truly evil. So that Elisha wept.

It's very easy to be a Christian and stand for these verses when things are going our way, right?

But don't you know that true Christianity is shown when we act as Christians during these times?

And don't you remember that the Apostles were happy if they had to suffer for the LORD? Acts 5:41

In no way, form or fashion is this time to hate.

Like never before, it's time to start being a Christian. Don't you remember that the spiritual problems that you have with Obama are YOUR responsibility? This is what God has called us to do.

So show respect for the person God put in charge, as the Bible says, and continue to stand up for what is right. Do it with the grace shown by Jesus and his Apostles, our examples.

Peace out.

That was well put. I feel I have already adopted that line of thought.

He's right... this is a giant leep for humanity... and a huge test for our faith... It is amazing that God always seems to find ways to get us to move for Him. "Change" is good!
