Deep Thoughts from a Five-Year Old

A.J. amazes me sometimes. It doesn't seem like he is paying attention and then he shocks me with something out of the blue. This morning I had the radio on as we were getting dressed. The news was reporting about a man who fell into a dumpster and almost froze to death. A.J. asked what the man was doing in the dumpster and I explained that sometimes people don't have any money and look in the trash for food. Then I thought that would be a great opportunity to inspire an attitude of gratitude and I said, "aren't you glad that God takes care of us and has given us a house and food?" Then A.J. said...."why doesn't God take care of that guy too?" I was speechless at first!! Ummm....good question!! Then I explained that sometimes people make bad choices and their bad choices have consequences. I can see that this kid is going to keep me on my toes!!
