In my efforts to stay focused on Christ this Christmas...I got up early this morning, while the house was still quiet and was reading in a devotional guide by Anne Spangler - "Immanuel - Praying the Names of God through the Christmas Season". I came across the following prayer that hits the nail right on the head for me!
Today I pray, in this Christmas season, for the grace to know how much I still need Jesus. I ask for the grace to see beyond my wants to the things I really need - more compassion and less harsh judgement, more generosity and less fear, more patience and less irritability (this is a big one for me), more faith and less doubt. I pray that Jesus will enable me to move beyond the kind of selfish praying that I typically do and to pray in a way that reflects His heart, letting whatever moves Him to move me too. And finally I pray for the privilege of joining Him as he seeks out and saves those who are lost.
And now the day begins....no more quiet house...A.J. is standing right next to me and Micah is shouting at me from his crib.
