The Christmas season is in full swing now. Tonight I will attend my third Christmas party of ELEVEN! Yes...that's right....11. Knowing that 11 parties in a span of two weeks is insane I opted to forgo two of three O'Brien & Gere Christmas parties bringing my total number of parties down to only 9.
Pictured above is my first party of the season with my girls from the MOPS steering team. Next I went to the Women's Ministries team Christmas party on Tuesday. Tonight I will go to Aaron's company Christmas party, Saturday will be the Christmas Coffee Talk and Sunday I'll be going to a holiday gathering at a friend's home. Then I'll take a break until Thursday when I will go a neighborhood cookie exchange. Friday I will go to A.J's school party in the morning, hopefully make it over to O'Brien & Gere for my division Christmas luncheon followed by our annual AC Rank Construction Services Inc. Board of Directors dinner (i.e., dinner out with the Close's).
So what's my point in sharing my itinerary for the next week? I am wondering if all this partying is actually hindering me from really appreciating the true reason for this season? I'm thinking about Max Lucado's book "God Came Near". He points out in the first chapter how the angels announced Jesus birth to simple shepherds who were out tending their flock. Was that because they were the only people who weren't to busy to listen? So what does that make me? It is my goal going forward to be intentional about keeping Jesus as the focus of my celebrations.
